Fill up on fuel with your Djamo card at Shell stations

There are many transactions you can now do with your Djamo card. Paying for fuel is one of them. No cash on you and you need fuel? With your Djamo card, it’s now possible at Shell stations.

Yes! Through Shell’s partnership with the pan-African bank Ecobank, Djamo cards are accepted at every station in its network. Less cash to handle, fewer extra fees on purchases at Shell Select shops. These payments also cover lubricants and gas bottles.

Paying for fuel by bank card isn’t yet a routine in Côte d’Ivoire - it happens in a few steps. We’ll walk you through them and share everything you need to know. This only works with the physical card.

How to pay for fuel with your Djamo card

When you arrive at a gas station, turn off your engine, don’t smoke and don’t use your phone. These precautions apply before filling up. They help protect stations from fires, which unfortunately aren’t rare.

  1. After that, tell the pump attendant how much fuel you want.

  2. Once your tank is filled, the attendant enters the amount on the POS terminal and hands it to you so you can insert your Djamo card.

  3. Insert your Djamo card into the terminal and enter your withdrawal PIN. Your secret PIN is on the document you received when your card was delivered.

  4. Wait a moment for the payment to go through. Once the transaction is done, two receipts come out of the terminal. The attendant keeps theirs, you keep yours. Don’t forget to keep the payment receipt - it lets you track the transaction.

That’s it! You’ve just entered a new era with Djamo. On top of being fast and secure, paying for fuel by card will spare you the headaches of change.
