How to pay via a POS terminal with your Djamo card
With the Djamo card, you can pay both online and in-store. To pay in person - at a supermarket (Hayat, Sococé, Orca Deco, Prosuma, Carrefour, Casino…), at a hotel (Pullman, Ibis, Azalaï, Onomo, Seen Hotel, Radisson Blu, Sofitel), or at any other store (Kiabi, Zino, Beauty Success, Aldo, Chicco, Natuzzi Italia Store, Asseke Oro…) - you can use a POS terminal. Here’s how it works.
What is a POS terminal?
A POS (point-of-sale) terminal is an electronic device that reads payment card data, records a transaction, and communicates with a remote authentication server.

A POS terminal validates your payments using specific information sent by your card (magnetic stripe read, PIN, etc.). The terminal electronically checks the transaction details and sends them to the merchant and the bank. When you complete the payment, your card is charged and you receive a notification followed by a receipt.

How does paying via POS work?
When you’re shopping and ready to pay, follow these steps:
- Insert your Djamo card into the chip reader slot
- The cashier enters the transaction amount on the POS keypad
- They hand you the device to enter your PIN (the PIN for POS payments is the same one used for ATM withdrawals - it’s on the sticker attached to the sheet containing your card)
- The device prints two copies of the receipt - one for you as proof of payment
The newer POS terminals support contactless payment (NFC), shown by a logo similar to the Wi-Fi icon. To pay contactless with your Djamo card:
- The merchant enters the transaction amount
- You tap your card on the terminal screen
- A light comes on and a beep sounds to confirm the payment. You can ask for a receipt if you want, otherwise you’re done
