Prepaid card limits in Côte d'Ivoire
A prepaid card is meant for online purchases, payments, sending or receiving money. What we want is control over our money - to send and receive what we choose, without restrictions. But limits do exist, set by financial institutions and imposed by the BCEAO.
Why a spending limit?
A prepaid card isn’t unlimited. Every card has a ceiling - a withdrawal or payment cap not to be exceeded over a given period (per day, per week, or per month). The point: protect your finances, cap spending, prevent fraud on your accounts, and limit capital flight. Knowing your card limits To check your card’s limit, just review the contract you signed with your financial institution, look in your account dashboard, or contact an advisor.

This amount is also limited by what’s available on your card and by the bill denominations the ATM dispenses. Some ATMs also have their own withdrawal limits. These are usually clearly displayed on the machines. You’ll also need enough money on your card to cover the ATM withdrawal fee.
